SFIS Student Health Center Updates

The Santa Fe Indian School has established a Student Health Center (SHC) on campus in order to assist students who may become ill or sustain injury while attending school. It also serves to provide guidance for students regarding health related behaviors. It is located at the far end of the courtyard in the Student Life Center. The SHC is open 180 days per year in accordance with the school calendar. Current hours for the clinic are Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm.

Our team works hard to partner with parents to achieve optimal health outcomes for SFIS students. In this partnership we are offering these reminders to keep things running smoothly in the care of your student.

  • The SFIS Medication Authorization form is now on the SFIS Website>Admissions>Health Center>Medication Authorization Form or just click HERE. This form needs to be signed by the prescribing provider and is REQUIRED if the School Nurse is going to administer any medication to a student. (pg. 22 SFIS 2019-2020 Handbook)
  • SFIS is not responsible for transporting students to off campus health appointments scheduled by parents. (pg. 21 SFIS 2019-202 Handbook)
  • A sick or injured student must be picked up by a parent or authorized adult. Students who are sick or injured will not be permitted to ride public transportation (including the Rail Runner) to get home. (pg. 21-22 SFIS 2019-2020 Handbook)
  • Flu shots are now available at many locations including drug stores (Walgreens, CVS), grocery stores with pharmacies (Smiths) and your tribal health clinic. SFIS Student Health Center will be conducting a FLU SHOT CLINIC for *students that have a signed parental consent on file* in November 2019. We strongly encourage you and your child to get a flu shot.  Click HERE for the Flu Shot Parental Consent Form.
