Friday, 1/8/22 Announcement:

Dear SFIS Families,

As you know, we have been working diligently to return to campus in the safest way possible, which we determined to be mandatory student and staff testing this Sunday, 1/9 and Monday 1/10. We continue to believe that mandatory PCR testing is essential given the high number of cases and quarantines in our communities.

Unfortunately, we received notice from the testing company today, Friday right before 5pm informing us that they would NOT be able to provide the PCR tests. For this reason, the following changes will occur:

  1. COVID-19 Testing has been cancelled on this Sunday, 1/9 and Monday 1/10
  2. On Monday, 1/10, STUDENTS will attend class remotely, in 100% virtual mode for the entire week
  3. Monday, 1/10 staff report to work as scheduled
  4. All athletic practices are cancelled and games will be posponed, please note:
    1.  The games for the week will look to be re-scheduled, however our Annual Varsity Tournament that was to take place Jan. 13-15 has been cancelled.
    2. MS Boys Basketball tryouts is delayed along with the start of the season until SFIS returns to in person learning.
    3. All SFIS athletes should communicate with their coaches as they may host virtual meetings/practices during this remote learning week.
    4. If any questions are needing to be addresses please reach out to the SFIS Athletics office at (785) 423-0388 or via email at efbrock@sfis.k12.nm.us

We will reach out next week with an update. In the meanwhile, please take care of yourself and your families by staying safely at home to let this wave of omicron pass.

 Love, Superintendent Abeyta
