Qualifications:

HS diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years building maintenance and repairs to include plumbing, painting and some electrical experience, experience in operating heavy equipment; operate assigned vehicles. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Description:

The General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, and other building systems. Performs inspections, of facilities, grounds, and equipment to ensure that all students, staff, and community are provided a functioning, safe, attractive and clean environment for learning and work.

• Performs general maintenance and repair tasks in a variety of areas as assigned by the supervisor and in accordance with all applicable codes and regulations.
• Performs only those maintenance and repairs that do not require a license or perform maintenance and repairs under the direct supervision of a licensed technician.
• Performs regular inspections of equipment and systems, reporting any abnormalities and hazards immediately.
• Builds, installs, inspects, and repairs playground equipment.
• Uses the work order system, making sure that work orders have been written and approved before performing tasks, except in emergency situations.
• Keeps a log of all maintenance functions and repairs performed.
• Recommends repairs or procedures that are beyond the scope of responsibilities, skill, or experience, outlining the work needed and specifications required of an outside contractor.
• Ensures that all applicable fire, safety, health and environmental regulations and laws are observed and exceeded.
• Maintains an adequate supply of parts and supplies usually used in repairs and request needed supplies through the established procedures.
• Operates and maintain, in a safe and operational condition, all tools and equipment necessary to carry out job functions and responsibilities.
• Responds to emergency situations and perform necessary repairs.
• Removes snow and ice by shoveling, plowing and or sanding walks, driveways, parking areas and steps.
• Reports immediately any damage or vandalism to facilities or theft of equipment.
• Maintains grounds in safe conditions with landscaping, leveling, mowing and associated tasks dealing with the grounds.
• Works cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.
• Demonstrates ethical behavior.
• Follows school policies and administrative rules and regulations.
• Maintains behavior appropriate to performing and accomplishing assigned duties.
• Knows what to do to successfully complete assigned work.
• Projects over-all concern for personal appearances as it relates to job performance.
• Carries out assignments and instructions from supervisor(s) in a competent and efficient manner.
• Performs assignments in such a manner so as not to interrupt the classroom learning environment.
• Works in a safe manner with personal safety and the safety of others as the number one priority.
• Communicates with supervisor and co-workers.
• Is willing to attend to after hour/ weekend emergency repairs.
• Maintains inventory and request cleaning supplies and materials needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Secures equipment and supplies and protects against pilferage, loss, theft, or abuse.
• Completes records and reports as required in a timely manner.
• Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Performs building monitor duties for monitored events.
• Follows Board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.
• Exhibits Customer service standards and procedures.
• Assists in other areas of campus as requested by the Facilities Director.
• Complies with OSHA standards.
• Engages in Professional Development.
