Community Based Education Liaison (SY24-25)

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, education, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in community engagement, Tribal organization, or a related field. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps required.  U.S. Citizenship is required.

Description:

The Community Based Education Liaison works as part of the Community Based Education (CBE) Program to develop associations along with community networks and outreach in support the CBE curriculum and hands-on-learning opportunities of the SFIS CBE Program to achieve program goals as outlined in the CBE grant.

• Works with Tribes and other entities to network and develop opportunities for the CBE program and students.
• Presents briefings and other information related to the CBE.
• Identifies community issues/problems/topics which require skills in science, math and technology.
• Prepares written descriptions of job requirements for presentation to the CBE Project Team.
• Prepares written reports on partnerships and completed projects.
• Participates in preparing instructional units using thematic issues.
• Coordinates enrichment activities.
• Implements or assists in instructional lessons at the request of the CBE Teachers.
• Participates in evaluations.
• Works with industry, government, and other employers to identify job requirements, develop competency measurements, coordinate student activities including summer placements.
• Collects and interprets data in support of the CBE grant.
• General accounting work, such as maintaining spreadsheets to account for program funds, student activities, and receipt reconciliation to the Finance Office through the principal.
• Assists staff with communications and reservations with transportation for students going on field trips.
• Assists other faculty who wish to include community members and resources within the general education curriculum.
• Gathers, files, and disseminates information as required.
• Is flexible with work schedule, odd hours to support program needs.
• Communicates accurately and effectively in the content area and maintain a professional rapport with students.
• Obtains feedback from and communicate with students in a manner which enhances student learning and understanding.
• Collaborates with administration, parents, and co-workers.
• Takes precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
