Student Rights & Responsibilities Coordinator (SY24-25)

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education, or other related field of study and two (2) years of experience working with Native American students preferred. Six (6) years of education/experience, Tribal Council experience, may substitute. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Description:

Upholds the Pueblo/Native as well as SFIS Core Values to the SFIS students, staff, parents, and communities by communicating student expectations as outlined in the Partnership for Success Handbook. This includes managing the coordination, implementation, and distribution of the SFIS Partnership for Success Handbook. Responsible for student incident logging and communication with parents, in addition to participation in ADR’s and FCS’s.

• Communicates student expectations and SR&R policies to students, staff, parents, and communities.
• Ensures new and returning staff receive annual training on Suspected Child Abuse/Neglect (SCAN) reporting through the Deans and will assist programs as needed.
• Submits all SCAN documents and refers appropriate reports falling under Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (PL 101-630), Crime Control Act (PL 101-647), and/or other laws applicable to the protection of children and family health and emotional welfare.
• Manages SCAN reporting, follow-ups, and shares information with the superintendent, and others that need to know.
• Enters student behavior data in NASIS and provides regular student incident information to the superintendent.
• Provides written notification to parents/guardians regarding student incidents.
• Acts a resource for employees seeking Pueblo/Native alternative dispute resolution best practices.
• Assists with the coordination of the ADR process, as needed.
• Facilitates and leads ADRs in consultation with the appropriate Dean of Students and/or applicable staff.
• Leads and/or assists as a cultural resource with FCS’s, as requested by programs.
• Has overall responsibility for the facilitation of production of the Partnership for Success Handbook, to include organization of review committee meetings, maintenance, editing, printing, and annual distribution of the Partnership for Success Handbook, in coordination of SFIS Handbook committee.
• Engages student voice by providing opportunities for feedback regarding the SR&R Handbook.
• Annually delivers and meets with each Pueblo Governor to review the Partnership for Success Handbook.
• Is the point-of-contact for inquiries regarding student behavior with Tribal leadership and disseminates information only within FERPA guidelines and policy.
• Works cooperatively with key administrators and coordinators to provide culturally relevant advice and Tribal protocol to staff and students.
• Develops and executes cultural sensitivity trainings for newly hired as well as returning staff annually, as requested by HR and SFIS programs.
• Invites, coordinates, and hosts Tribal leadership and other organizational visits to SFIS.
• Is the point-of-contact and coordinates campus tours, as requested.
• Participates in the following committees: SFIS Crisis Team, NPA/Security, Emergency Procedure Development, and others as requested by the superintendent.
• Maintains high visibility among students on campus.
