Library Technician

Qualifications:

Associates Degree in Library Technologies or equivalent.  Experience working in libraries or records management, and experience working with tribal communities preferred.

189 day - Exempt

Description:

The SFIS Library Technician assists the Library Media Center Coordinator with all aspects of library operation. The Library Technician is a para-professional responsible for the following:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  •          Collaborating with LMC staff to determine policies and procedures, vision, direction, and ongoing program             development for the Library Media Center.
  •          Maintaining library records, computer catalog, patron accounts, and circulation information.
  •          Training and overseeing student workers.
  •          Organizing and maintaining library print, magazine, and digital collections.
  •          Preparing purchase requisitions for library-related items and services.
  •          Being available and willing to assist students and faculty in meeting information needs.
  •          Instructing staff and students in the proper use of library materials and equipment.
  •          Maintaining safety and security in the Library Media Center.
  •          Assisting in the preparation of semester and annual reports and LMC budget as needed.
  •          Promoting positive community relations through participation in school activities, library events, and                         promotions.
  •          Other duties as assigned by LMC Coordinator and High School Principal.

Other Responsibilities and Expectations:The Library Technician will:

  •         Comply with the SFIS Code of Conduct
  •         Other duties as assigned

Professional Knowledge Skills and Abilities: The Library Technician will demonstrate:

  •          Proficient word processing, email, spreadsheets, and cloud computing (Google suite) skills
  •          Ability to catalog and process items in library management systems; download and import records
  •         Organization, time management, task prioritization skills
  •          Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  •         Demonstrate problem solving skills
  •         Ability to adapt to a fast paced environment
  •         High level of integrity, commitment, and work ethic.
  •         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff and                           community in a variety of roles and positions.
  •         Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  •         Ability to use computers, specialized software, and/or other electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.
