Santa Fe Indian School Scholarships:
The purpose of the Santa Fe Indian School scholarships are to provide financial assistance to Santa Fe Indian School graduating seniors and alumni pursuing a degree or certificate at a post-secondary institution.

Application Available: April 30, 2025
Application Deadline: June 30, 2025
Applications that are completed by the deadline date will eligible for review by the Scholarship Committee. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered for the current application cycle.

- Transcript
- Board of Trustees – Official High School Transcript
- Francis L. Abeyta Memorial Alumni – Unofficial Transcript
- Personal Statement Essay: A two-page minimum essay (double-spaced, 1-inch margins, Times New Roman, 12-point font) that includes biographical information, achievements, and community impact.
- Two Letters of Recommendation: These should be written by teachers, staff, academic advisors, or Tribal Leadership. The letters must provide an example of the student’s character, work ethic, and motivation that make them an ideal candidate for the scholarship. Recommendations should be emailed to scholarships@sfis.k12.nm.
- Current Class Schedule: A document reflecting full-time enrollment status. Including the student’s name and credit hours.
- W-9 Form: Use a current mailing address. If you are awarded, this address will be used to mail your award.
Distribution of Funds

The Scholarship award is $2,000.00. The scholarship award is distributed in two installments. $1,000.00 for the Fall semester and $1,000.00 for the Spring semester contingent on renewal requirements.

Eligibility for Renewal
○ Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.
○ Must remain at “full-time” status. -
Recipients must submit a copy of their transcripts to the Family Engagement Coordinator upon completing each semester/term: Fall semester transcripts must be submitted by January 31st and Spring semester transcripts must be submitted on June 30th.
Change in Status

Scholarship recipients must notify SFIS of any changes to their academic status. Failure to do so may result in a delay or denial of the scholarship.

Academic changes include change in full-time status, number of credits, and/or change/transfer of schools.

Students can report academic changes and update their personal information by emailing the information to scholarships@sfis.k12.nm.us

If a recipient’s status changes from full-time to part-time, they are no longer eligible to receive funding for next semester.

PROBATIONARY CLAUSE: If the recipient falls below the minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 3.0, the recipient will be placed on probation and receive half of the installment for the spring semester. The recipient must raise their cumulative GPA to reapply and be eligible for the next scholarship application cycle.
Information and Final Checklist

Applicants will be notified via email whether they were awarded or denied a scholarship.

Award letters and checks will be sent directly to the Scholarship Awardee. Funds awarded are used for expenses associated with educational costs, such as tuition, books, fees, transportation costs, supplies, equipment, etc.
