Letter to our Santa Fe Indian School Students from Superintendent Roy Herrera

Dear Students,

Happy Cinco de Mayo and hope this letter finds you well.

I am writing to say hello.  I think of you daily as I begin my day with morning prayer, through the day, and as I go to bed at night.  I want you to know each and every one of you are missed so much.  Campus is empty and is not the same without you being there.   I hope all is well with you and your family.  So much has been taken away from you.

I can only imagine the feelings you have gone through with this Pandemic all around us.  I need you to to be strongsupport your family as best you can, and trust things will get better.  Please help everyone slow down the virus by staying home,  using “Social Distancing”, washing your hands continuously, and following other saftey guidelines outlined on our Santa Fe Indian School website.   No matter how hard it is, what challenges you are facing and how scared you are, know that you are special and mean the WORLD to us.  Hold your Core Values close to your heart. We are here for you!

All SFIS students are important from our 7th graders to our 12th Graders. We are working on a plan to get personal items, from the dorm left by our dormers, home to each one. Our Principals, Teachers and Staff are working hard to continue your education and plan ways we can commemorate our Senior class and let each one know how special they are and celebrate one of their school lifetime achievement goals even in this time of turmoil.

Continue to keep your learning tools sharp by doing your homework, reading as much as you can, and using what you have available to help you learn.  Go outside paying special attention to your environment and notice things you may not have paid attention or appreciated nature because of circumstances… such as a sunrise, sunset, the clouds, smells of the earth, sounds such as the wind blowing through the branches. Our teachers and staff are all going through many of the things you are with their families.  Thank you for your patience and remember to be patient with your family and yourself.  I am proud of you, and want you to know that I believe in you and your future.

Continued blessings and prayers,

Roy Herrera, Superintendent

Go Braves and Lady Braves…Together we will get through this!
