New Campus Construction

SANTA FE, N.M. – As part of the overall campus masterplan, the Santa Fe Indian School is constructing a new main entry for the campus. This new entry point includes a deceleration drive aisle on Cerrillos Road, a two-way entry drive, security guard shelter, landscaping, and signage. This design is intended to enhance the public face of the school, improve way-finding and security, and support future campus development. The project was designed by Dekker/Perich/Sabatini, and is being constructed by AnchorBuilt, Inc. The project will complete in late 2020.
SFIS Entrance Project Community Updates
Project Area: MST Round About, Old Administration Roadway leading to Cerrillos Road
Project Start Date: January 3, 2019
Project Duration: Up to 310 Days from Notice to Proceed/Project Start Date
Project Mobilization will begin with the following:
- Project Area and Construction Site Perimeter Fencing to restrict unauthorized personnel and students from entering construction area.
- Excavation equipment mobilized
- Project material transport
Entrance to Project:
- At onset of the project, the construction area will be accessed by AnchorBuilt and Sub-contractors through the old administration gated directly from Cerrillos
- Some light traffic through existing gate may occur, however, we are seeking to minimize unnecessary construction traffic through this area. All contractor personnel are to be screened for security and safety purposes.
Road Closures:
- At the onset of the project, AnchorBuilt Construction, is not anticipating any immediate road closures near the project area for at least 60 to 90 Days.
- Updates will be forthcoming, on scheduled closures.
New Traffic Patterns:
- Current traffic patterns will remain in place, when accessing Administration, MST and High School Dorm areas.
- Upon closure of the round-about, access to HSD and U Shape building will be through the roadway leading to the Middle School side of campus.
Parking Relocation:
- Upon closure of the round-about providing access to the parking lots between the administration and MST buildings, parking will be relocated to the following area; Pavilion parking lot, parking spaces closest to the administration to be designated for visitors and parents.
- For staff parking near MST on the dirt lot, SFIS Facilities is creating new graded and graveled parking between the High School Dorms and the U Shape building. This location will replace the current, parking area utilized by staff.
SFIS Student Transportation:
- Upon closure of the round-about, SFIS Transportation will drop off both Mid School and High School students, at the designated bus zone in front of Abeyta Gym.
- The SFIS late bus will pick up students directly behind the administration building in the pavilion parking lot.
Project Interruptions to Academic programs:
- Because of the project, location, there should not be any direct interruptions to the academic days. Regardless, we are working with the contractor to be cognizant of any testing dates, and major events and activities to minimize any impact to our programs.
