COVID-19: Letter from Superintendent

PDF Version [120.2 K]

Dear Santa Fe Indian School students,

THE SANTA FE INDIAN SCHOOL IS NOT CLOSED. OUR CAMPUS IS CLOSED.

As your superintendent, I wanted to take a few minutes to touch base with you, and let you know that each of you is so important to the Santa Fe Indian School during this time that we are away from each other. We will get over this. I promise you, that we made these difficult decisions based on what is in the best interest in protecting the health and safety of our students and staff as well as our communities.

The Santa Fe Indian School education learning remains OPEN and continuing through the end of the 2nd semester. Our SFIS campus is CLOSED for the remainder of this school year. The campus, classrooms, dormitories and our interior spaces are being cleaned and disinfected continuously. We have not opened our campus but to essential staff until the virus has subsided as to minimize re-infection of our spaces.

The Principals are working extremely hard with staff to support your learning and give you the opportunity to earn your credits to graduate or move to the next grade. Continue to complete your work and connect with your teacher(s). They will be clear on our learning expectations from you. Please do your best and remember you are investing in your future. Once the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic subsides we remain hopeful that next semester our school will be ready for your return.

Please be patient and grab as many learning opportunities as you can from reading books and articles, researching topics you are interested in learning more about, get some exercise and fresh air from walks using social distancing. Enjoy your families and make the best of this time.
Continued prayers and many blessings to you and your families.

Roy Herrera, Superintendent
