Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Counseling; Current NMPED School Counselor License (PreK-12). Experience working with Native American Students preferred. Pre-employement background check and U.S. Citizenship is required.

Description:
Under the supervision of the High School Principal, the High School Academic Counselor works with high school grade students to assist the students in their academic work and the development of educational plans by meeting with individual students to determine student interests, graduation requirements, and post high school plans. The Counselor acts as a liaison between the Academic and Student Living departments to ensure acquisition of a quality education.

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and sit frequently or for prolonged periods of time. Ability to travel to school buildings, offices, tribal communities, various events, and other engagements. Ability to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal. Additional physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds, stooping/crouching, reaching/handling. Fingering, talking/hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.
Safety and Health
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
Work Environment:
Must be able to work within a various degrees of noise, temperature, and air quality. Interruptions of work are routine. Flexibility and patience are required. Must be self-motivated and able to complete job assignment without direct supervision. After-hour work may be required.
