What does the SFIS application process entail?
Applicants start an online application available on the SFIS website. Students with applications on file will be invited to attend an Admissions Session in January. Attendance at the Admissions Session is mandatory for all applicants. Requests to complete the written questionnaire by Zoom may be considered for applicants living outside of the State of New Mexico. Applicants must complete the application information and provide required documents by the closing date. Applications and documentation received after the closing date will not be considered and will result in an incomplete application. Incomplete applications are not eligible for review. Following the closing date, the Admissions Committee will review complete applications and make admission decisions in March. Applicants will be notified of admissions decisions in their application account by the first week of April.
What is the Admissions Session?
The Admissions Session provides an opportunity for applicants to visit our campus and meet our staff. Applicants will complete the written questionnaire portion of their application during the Admissions Session. Responses to the written questionnaire are utilized by the Admissions Committee to learn about the applicant and the contributions they can bring to our SFIS community. Applicants are required to attend in-person unless an exception is requested for an applicant living outside the state of New Mexico.
The Admissions Session consists of the following:
- Welcome by School Leaders for Attendees
- Admissions Application Assistance for Parents/Guardians
- Written questionnaire for Applicants: Applicants will hand-write on a number of topics and questions that help the Admissions Committee learn about who they are and allows for an applicant to express personal interest in SFIS.
- Optional: Tour of the Santa Fe Indian School
When are Admission Sessions scheduled and do I have to RSVP?
An application must be on-file and include parent contact information to be eligible to receive an invitation to attend an Admission Session. Walk-ins are not able to be accommodated.
