High School

Welcome to High School

Welcome to Santa Fe Indian School as we look forward to another successful and productive school year.

We encourage our students to become leaders both on campus and in their communities.  We want them to be able to make good choices-ones of which they can be proud.

I am honored to be the High School Principal; preceding this position I was the Principal at Wingate Elementary and Middle School for five years.  For nine years prior, I was a School Safety Specialist {student safety} for the Bureau of Indian Education and was awarded the Emergency Management Professional of the Year (2009) by the Department of Homeland Security.  Through this position I was able to work with tribes/pueblos and schools/residential programs throughout the country.

I was also the Principal at Nay Ah Shing School, a tribally controlled grant school, working for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe in Minnesota.    I worked in Minnesota over a 14-year period and held the positions of Assistant Principal, and Dean of Students.  I taught both math and science during that time and was recognized as a Teacher of Excellence by the State of Minnesota in 2000. I was also the Director of Higher Education and helped establish a cooperative college for the Mille Lacs Band which incorporated programs from 3 different universities for the benefit of both tribal and community members.   I began my career as a math teacher and coach at Hopi Jr/Sr High School on the Hopi reservation in Arizona where I worked for 9 years.    It was there that I met and married my wife, Connie.  Over my 30 plus years of working in Native American Schools I am proud to have had the opportunity to work with and coach many students who have gone into the education profession and are teaching students in their own Native communities.

I received my Bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University, my Masters of Education degree from St. Mary’s University and my Principal Licensure from St. Cloud State University.

I look forward to working with our students, staff, and community members at Santa Fe Indian School; as we support and encourage each other to continue to grow and advance to our full potential.
